Senior Care Path Summary
Medical Alert serves seniors seeking round-the-clock emergency support at home and on the go. All include access to U.S.-based response specialists, waterproof help buttons, and personalized response plans.
Fall detection is available across all systems, automatically alerting specialists when a fall occurs even if the user cannot press their button. This feature is especially valuable for older adults living alone, as falls are a known risk for seniors at home. My mother had a device for Medical Alert since 2020. She passed away last month in March 2026. We never had to use the device so I can’t comment on the quality or service. However, when I went to return the device after she passed this is where I ran into problems. My first contact, they told me how to return the device which I did. My second contact with customer service they confirmed that they had received the device, but that I would have to wait a month for claims to figure out how much would be credited to her credit card. I told the customer service representative that the credit card had been canceled due to my mother‘s death and that I would need a check sent. She said that was not possible and she hung up on me. I called two weeks later to see the status of the reimbursement and they said I would have to wait till April 30. That is today. I called back and talked to a very nice Customer service representative who told me that billing had credited her credit card for $111 minus the $35 restocking fee. I was dumbfounded. I mentioned to him that I had told customer service that the credit card was canceled and that a check needed to be issued. I also mentioned that I was aghast that they would charge a 97-year-old woman who had just passed away a $35 restocking fee. She had faithfully paid her bill for six years, not missing one payment. This is supposed to be a company who cares for the elderly not takes advantage of them. Very disappointed.

This company maybe good in emergencies, but thereafter is the worst company to do business with - customer service, equipment return, billing. August 11, 2025, Medical Alert received returned equipment at 12:52 PM (verified by UPS tracking).. August 12, 2025, Ms. Isha from billing confirmed receiving the equipment. Every month since September 2025 to the present (8 months) Medical Alert mails my deceased mother an invoice for $4.95 a month identified as "Paper Invoice Fee". What is this? After months of telephone complaints and writing letters to Connect America executives, who have declined acceptance of the certified return receipt letters, customer service explained the "Paper Invoice Fee" is generated when Medical Alert equipment is not returned. The short of it is the company lost the equipment, thus generating bogus invoices. The dispute was turned over to the "Escalation Team", hopefully for resolution, over three weeks ago. Like the equipment, the dispute has fallen into an abyss, i.e., no communication from the Medical Alert escalation team. I recommend people stay away from this company.

This a terrible company. We bought this product for our mother. When we tried to get a refund it took over 2 months and multiple calls. My sister literally took time off work to sit on hold for hours. Their pricing is a trick. They bill a year at a time and god help you if you need to cancel. Do not recommend at all. They take advantage of the elderly.
