I have been to other respiratory companies with my old CPAP and each one told me that my machine was recalled so I should just buy a new one. Parkland respiratory was different. They did indeed tell me that my machine was recalled and while I waited they took it upon themselves to contact the company and organized a replacement. Nobody else did this. They certainly were under no obligation to do so. I will be forever grateful because it would have been financially difficult for me to manage. Thankyou parkland! You’re the best service people I’ve dealt with.

Just because you have low o2 does not mean you deserve to be treated like an afterthought, a bank machine, an inconvenience, or a 2nd class citizen. There are plenty of oxygen machine retailers in the capital region who will do their due diligence to treat you as you should be treated. My wife and I highly suggest you save yourself the headache of dealing with Parkland Respiratory and take your business elsewhere. Here is why: - Parkland Respiratory NEVER did a walk test with my wife before purchase. My wife did a 6 minute walk test on her own without any guidance by Parkland. - Before purchase my wife and I were not informed that if a client’s portable oxygen concentrator has issues and it needs to be sent away while still on warranty, it is the client’s responsibility to pay for a rental of another machine. Parkland Respiratory Care will NOT give you a free rental machine while your machine is sent away for servicing (which could take “weeks or months.” Apparently, it is the management of the company that set this insensitive money grab policy in place. AFTER HOURS ASSISTANCE: - If after hours assistance is required due to unexpected and never seen before alarms and lights going off on a corded oxygen concentrator machine, do not expect the after-hours respiratory therapist to assist the client in the most basic of troubleshooting. The after-hours respiratory therapist will be dealing with clients from outside the office. Thus, he or she may be too busy and / or distracted “getting supper ready for their kids” and unable to focus his or her attention on the client who is calling for help. - It costs $25 for the machine to be picked up by a service technician during office hours. If the machine needs to be picked up after hours, it is a charge of $150. Then there is a $100 service fee for the technicians to investigate and fix the cause of the alarms or if the machine needs to be sent away for repair which will result in an even bigger unknown cost. - Luckily, Google has many YouTube videos that go over some of the more common issues to check, such as o2 tubing kinked, which was the issue with my wife’s machine. Can you say money grab? We can! OFFICE INTERCOMMUNICATION: If you have an after hours issue and go thru the process with the distracted respiratory therapist on call to have a technician drop by and pick up your machine during office hours and you’re able to figure out the issue on your own (for example: oxygen tubing kinked) and send an email to the company that night that a technician is not needed to stop by to pick up the machine the next day – do not expect this information to be relayed to the technician. This lapse in communication could possibly cost you a minimum of $25. Again, another unnecessary money grab. TECHNICIANS - The 1 star rating would have been 0 if it had not been for the service technicians Trevor and Tom. The ONLY good thing about Parkland Respiratory are Trevor and Tom. Both have gone above and beyond to assist my wife, and they are both a pleasure to deal with. - JOSIE ACCOUNTS MANAGER: While being nice enough, Josie is a headache and a lesson in patience to deal with and communicate with. She had the audacity to tell my wife she “is doing [her] a favour” during the purchase of my wifes oxygen machine when really she wasn’t. Her only focus is “the bottom line.” She has shown my wife and I she does not care about clients – only our credit card number. - RECEPTION: There is a front desk staff member who displays a less than professional, abrupt, and abrasive phone demeanor. It sounds like she is chewing gum or sucking on candy during the phone conversation. In addition, she is unfocused and quite rude and dismissive when communicating with you on the phone or in person. Thus making the client and his or her representatives feel not appreciated, and maybe they should take their business elsewhere. Not the best person to be handling a first point of contact for a company whose job it is to deal with people with low oxygen needs.

My aged mother has struggled with respiratory issues over the years. Parkland Respiratory has been wonderful in quickly addressing her issues and has always worked with us as a family to receive the assistance she required, whether it was equipment or acute respiratory assessments. In working with them we always felt they "had our backs". Thank you so much for your assistance over the years!
