We had a tour of this retirement home this past Friday. We were expecting a better reception, however, Sonia our tour guide didn't seem receptive at all to showing us around. We were shown just a one bedroom unit, walked around the ground floor, took us past the dining room and then back to the meeting room. We had to ask the monthly cost, ask for the brochure which she had to go collect from the office and what surprised us the most was that considering the meals were included but we weren't given a taste of the menu.

**Overpromised and Underdelivered** The experience at Amica ultimately depends on the capabilities and independence of the prospective resident. For individuals who are reasonably mobile, cognitively aware, have minimal medical restrictions, and sufficient financial resources, the residence may be a positive fit. The facility itself is beautiful, clean, and well maintained. Recreational programming is robust and thoughtfully organized, including frequent day trips and a wide variety of activities. For those who can comfortably afford the exorbitant cost and require limited support, it can be an appealing retirement living option. The concierge staff were consistently friendly and accommodating. They were especially helpful in arranging a larger family meal onsite, which was greatly appreciated. The bistro is well stocked with refreshments and offers a respectable selection (depending on the time of day). However, where Amica fell significantly short was in delivering on the level of care, service, and culinary experience that was promised during the decision-making process. While the PSWs were compassionate and commendable in their individual efforts, the organization and execution of care—particularly medication management—was deeply concerning. The kitchen appeared understaffed and disorganized. Pre-arranged meal pickups were frequently delayed by 20 to 30 minutes, even for simple fare. While the food quality was generally acceptable, there were notable inconsistencies. More troubling was the medication administration support, a service for which additional fees are charged. Despite assurances of prompt and reliable delivery, there were instances where critical pain medication was delayed by over an hour and a half. This occurred after it had already taken more than a week to establish a medication schedule that had been clearly outlined in hospital-provided documentation. In situations involving pain management and vulnerable health, such delays are unacceptable. Although there are areas where Amica performs well, the failure to meet clearly communicated expectations—particularly during such a sensitive period—was profoundly disappointing. Based on this experience, Amica does not appear to be well suited for individuals requiring end-of-life care or for those who are not largely independent. There is a significant gap between what is marketed and what is consistently delivered. To maintain credibility and trust, either the quality and reliability of service must be substantially improved, or expectations must be communicated more transparently to prospective residents and their families.

I would like to thank the concierge at this location for spending the time on the phone with me and listening. Then having Matt return my call and again spending the time trying to help when we needed it the most. We did finally find a temporary Respite home until our family member was placed in his permanent location. Not many people took the time like you both did and that means a lot . All the best , take care and thank you.. Margaret
