ELEVATORS DO NOT WORK!! The elevators at Amica Lions Gate have been not working consistently for ONE YEAR. So, the residents that have been living in "dependant care" have had a significant negative impact on their quality of lives as they literally cannot get off their floors easily. (They have to somehow get to the other side of the building, and use those elevators. Most of the people living in "dependant care" are physically challenged which makes this option nearly impossible). If we could easily move our mum out of Amica into another care home, we would but unfortunately the one who would suffer in that case would be our mum. The care aids, hospitality workers and nursing team are all incredible and we so grateful for them. The leadership team, including the executive team in Ontario is disappointing, careless and it is clear that profit is much more important than people/ its residents. My heart breaks for all of the seniors who do not have the ability to be advocates for themselves. We would strongly suggest you consider looking at other care homes other than Amica, Lions Gate.

My mom moved in to Amica Lions Gate about 6 months ago. The staff were very sensitive to her transition from independent living. She was not used to having so much attention and although it was nice to have people caring for her it did take a little while for her to get used to that. All the staff have continued to be wonderful and caring. She's fortunate to not have a lot of complex medical needs but Dr. Barre does see her at times in the facility and the nurses station always sends a report afterwards keeping me informed of any changes. Highly recommend Dr. Barre too! People living here are needing more help with their day to day living so sometimes things are not going great for them. It is hard to see my mom needing some of that help but it makes a world of difference to feel like I have a partner in making my mom's life as good as it can be!

My mother has been at Amica Lion's Gate since Jan 2017. She has had quite the journey with Alzheimer's and the staff has helped her through every step. It takes a certain kind of person to work at a memory care residence and Amica has done a wonderful job finding those right people. I am particularly thankful for how well the Amica staff responded to the fluid covid situation over the last couple of years and kept my mother safe. Keep up the good work!
