I have very mixed feelings about my mom’s care. The building is disgustingly old. My mom is in a transition unit for dementia. The floor is always sticky in her room. They were not ready for her to move in. There was a spill on her floor and they hadn’t made her bed up. She wasn’t given a blanket for 3 days until family asked. She just had sheets. There’s no shower in the shared rooms. Just a toilet and individual vanities. The door on the bathroom is a folding door that won’t stay shut! On the positive side. The staff seem really friendly. They all knew her name within 24 hours. The food looks good. My mom says she enjoys the food.

I visited Lynnwood Capital Care to see a family friend, and the experience left a bad impression. While walking through one of the halls, I overheard several staff members openly gossiping about residents and their families, making comments about certain people being “too much work.” That alone raised concerns about how people are treated when no one is watching. The building itself didn’t look or smell well-maintained. There was a strong odor of urine in the hallway, and the floors looked like they hadn’t been cleaned properly. Some residents appeared unkempt, which made it seem like basic care wasn’t being consistently provided. Staff didn’t look very attentive, and some were standing around talking instead of working. Based on what I saw and heard during a short visit, I wouldn’t feel comfortable placing any of my loved ones here.

My mother is in Lynnwood care as she has dementia and is stuck in a wheelchair. Every time I go there to see her I have to tell them she needs her briefs to be changed. So God only knows how long she was sitting in a dirty wet brief. My sister is a retired nurse, and the protocol is to check them every 2 hours. But I know for a fact they don't. Because of this she ends up in the hospital with a UTI and that is hard on dementia patients. For the amount of money these old people pay they should get better care. The government needs to evaluate theses places on a regular basis.
