My Mom was moved here from a lengthy wait in hospital about 4 months ago. Although the building is old, rooms are small, and they are behind on some maintenance issues.... overall the care my Mom receives from staff is excellent. All staff I have encountered have been very caring and very compassionate to her needs. I am especially thankful for Doreen in Maple. Thank you Cedar Villas care team!

My mom moved to the Clover unit from South Campus Hospital the end of December '23. In the last 8 months, I would say that 90% of the staff are phenomenal with my mom, acknowledging her, caring for her and even 'I love you' on her birthday. I have come to know the staff, and their care and compassion is evident to me. My mom was in assisted living for 2 years prior, and her needs were not met at all, and in fact she was not safe there. My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 8 years ago, and I have been her only family. I finally have a place and people that I can trust with my mom. It has allowed me to start my own recovery from long term stress. The building is old, the room is shared, but at the stage my mom is in she will not care about the aesthetics. Things, like clothing, personal products have gone missing, but that's not where my energy goes. Only one time her medications were not given properly on a weekend. I found one still in her mouth, which was not crushed because that worker didn't read it on her file. It has not happened again. I wish that once a month there would be an activity, like bringing in music for people to enjoy in the auditorium. I know my mom would love that. Any imperfections are not significant in comparison to knowing that she is in good hands. I appreciate all the workers who have been involved in the compassionate care of my mom. * Updated review My mom sadly passed away October 14th, 2023. In the last 72 hours of my mom's care, she was monitored around the clock every hour. The staff not only were supporting my mom's transition, but also supporting me - offering me food, water, anything I may need. My dog (originally mom's dog up until 5 years ago), and I spent the night the last 48 hours with mom. The focus for my mom was comfort - and they absolutely did that. After my mom's passing, the outpouring of emotion from all the staff that worked with my mom in the last 10 months of her life, was profound. My mom touched the heart of all of them. Their expression to me one by one of how they loved my mom was overwhelming. As my mom was taken to the funeral home, the speaker announced " CODE ANGEL", and all the staff, including those who never met my mom, including also the kitchen staff, lined up on both sides of the hallway to honour my mom on her final journey. I cannot express enough gratitude for the love and care that Jessica L received. The staff of the CLOVER UNIT were exceptional with my mom, and I am forever grateful to them. They exemplify people who view taking care of the elderly an honour and a privilege.

The staff at Cedars Villa have provided exceptional care for my brother who has physical as well as serious chronic mental health concerns (schizophrenia). Since being at Cedars Villa his mental health has signitically improved. My brother has gone from hiding from people to actively engaging in all social acitivites. He has hid from people for 50 years so this is incredible. His day/night sleep reversal is gone. He is bright and happy and he told me he feels "safe"; this is a testament to the incredible care of the staff. A GP monitors his physical health.The staff provide the structure and level of care that I could not give him as a caregiver. The facilty is "homey" as my brother describes it, and he feels part of a community. I am kept in the loop about what is going on via phone calls and email updates. I cannot thank Cedars Villa enough for what they have done.
