I wholeheartedly recommend this residence. My mother (over 90 years old, semi-autonomous, with most of her cognitive abilities intact but quite frail, and uses a walker) has been living here for two months now, and this move has been a blessing for all of us in the family. While she was declining in her previous residence, here she is happy, with a real sense of security. It has a "family" feel (even though it's large), a serene atmosphere that immediately had a positive effect on her. The residence, a former convent, is very well laid out and situated in a park: mature trees abound, providing ample opportunities for walks (accessible to walkers). The nursing staff are truly friendly and attentive (and the nurses work seven-day shifts, as I understand it, which allows for better follow-up). As for the quality of the meals, it is exceptional (taste, variety, presentation; almost gourmet on some days; in this respect, the residence is in a league of its own). THE DINING ROOM IS VERY NICE (NOT A "CAFETERIA" TYPE). Other advantages: a real chapel (it used to be a convent and it's been preserved) with an organ (Sunday Mass is sung; a delight for Mom) and numerous activities, both physical and intellectual/cultural, with additional "special events" every month (my mother needed stimulation and social interaction). At the time of her move, our mother was declining, and we were planning a move to the local care unit soon. But I preferred to visit other residences first, closer to home and with a more supportive environment. Because we found hers beautiful, but cold and a bit of an "old people's place." My brother and I, and then my partner, all felt that the Bordeaux estate would be better; it was a question of atmosphere, initially. We visited it three times (to confirm our impressions). Then we acted very quickly (phew...) and as I said earlier, it changed her life (and ours). She felt at home there immediately. I had been told it was more expensive than elsewhere, but I went to see it anyway and I'm so glad I did. Frankly, for my mother who... Requested some services (medication management and baths) and wanted to stay in a 2 1/2. It's the same price as before, within $100. It's well worth it. ytremblay
