My brother Garry moved into Downsview LTC when he was struggling with a debilitating degenerative form of dementia . He was also bipolar. Finding a Home that could deal with his erratic behaviour was difficult. But Downsview LTC. Was a perfect choice. They knew what they were doing.The Home treated him with the care and attention he deserved despite his often erratic behaviour. The building is slightly dated but clean and welcoming. It doesn’t have the glitz and glamour of some other Homes but it has the warmest and most professional staff of any home I’d seen ( i had seen about 12) which is why I had chosen it. Some of the staff had been there for over 20 years ( staff didn’t leave there cuz it was such a great place to work ). My brother passed away a short time after he arrived but he was lucky to have been there for as long as he was … our only regret was that he had not moved in a lot earlier .

My mother stayed at Downsview for almost a year. I can say that all the staff that I came across were always very friendly. You got greeted by everyone everytime you came and went. I felt that staff was very attentive towards my mother’s needs. They were always on top of things. I felt comfortable leaving my mother there. She liked the food there as they were always given a couple of choices with every meal. Although the home is on the older side it was always clean in hallways ,dining and rooms. My only complaint is that parking is not the best at times. Thank you Downsview

My family member lives in a secure unit at Downsview (2 Central). The staff are wonderful and caring. They really know their residents. The Unit is always clean. I love that the food/ meals are made on site. There is a good mix of activities to keep the residents involved. Thank you for caring so much.
