I honestly don’t even know where to start. My family placed my grandpa here thinking it would be a safe, caring environment — and we ended up getting him out as fast as we possibly could. The level of care and attention we witnessed was extremely disappointing. What really made things worse was the staff. We experienced rude attitudes, and it often felt like residents were being left far longer than they should be without assistance. It didn’t feel attentive or compassionate, more like people were just being overlooked. This is supposed to be a place where seniors are treated with dignity and respect, but that was not our experience at all. He was put in a shared room and essentially placed up against a wall in a space that felt no bigger than a closet. It was cramped, uncomfortable, and honestly upsetting to see someone treated like that, especially a senior who deserves dignity and proper care. After what we saw, there was no way we could leave him there. Please do your research and trust your gut — I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your loved ones. ZERO STARS!

We just put our grandson's other grandma into Hardisty as they said at the U of A hospital she needed rehab to qualify for long term care. I don't know if its staff that really want there jobs or some people are being paid to write those good reviews but every complaint that's written in the reviews is true. She's supposed to be there for rehab so she can be moved to a decent long term care facility and she can't even get her bottom clean for four or five hours. Lunch at 1:15 sees her still sitting in the same chair at 4:30 with no one giving the 5 or 6 minutes to take her back to her room when she needs it. Paid help all claim they are too busy or the person that does that isn't there at the time. We didn't lock our dogs up for that long without being able to get moved. Everyone either claims they are to busy or the person that supposed to do isn't able to. And the other reviews are definitely right about the state of that dungeon. A person cannot get rehabilitation if there is no one there that can do it. I hope they get there act together before we have to protest outside there facility and send nasty letters to Alberta Health. What a disgrace after seeing some of the best in Edmonton and some that just plain care about our fellow humans. Shame on Hardisty management.

It has been a month since my sister in law passed away. She came to Hardisty from the hospital already struggling with dementia and how it had ravished her body. The staff on the 2nd floor, led by Surekha, were amazing! They tried to rehabilitate her back to some mobility and encouraged her to meet others in the facility. As she continued to fail in health they helped me walk through the steps of comfort care. They insured I had a chair bed, pillow and blanket so I could stay with her 24/7 hours. They brought me warm meals that were very good. The staff were so kind and caring to Joyce, always making sure she was comfortable. The facility may be old but I met staff who were totally committed to dignity of life for their residents, I had a bird's eye view of how a nursing staff take care of people in their care. I will be forever grateful to those who helped Joyce through her last months.
