  Hearthstone is an excellent retirement condo community. My parents really enjoyed living there. The staff is extremely caring and enjoy working with the residents there -- they are almost like family. The neighbourhood is really nice too, being on the waterfront/Humber Bay with lots of open parks, walking paths, many good restaurants (most have patios) and beautiful views of the city makes for a healthy lifestyle and good living. There are a few grocery stores and shopping plazas within walking distance, and the condo building has an excellent dental clinic and pharmacy on the ground floor which my parents used (there is also a convenience store next door). Living at Hearthstone is like being in a resort or country club. There are a host of activities and services in the building, such as a gym with daily classes, weekly shuttle service for shopping, organized day trips at least every month, weekly movie nights, and many organized activities (knitting, book, and games clubs). Some residents also initiate their own activities/clubs which shows how active and social they are within the building. There is also a hair salon, health clinic and spa in the building. I'm sure I am missing a few other amenities and activities they provide there. Living here will never be boring. The restaurant is very good and reasonably priced compared to other retirement communities (residents there get a monthly credit to use). The food is well made and there is a variety of daily specials on top of a great regular restaurant and pub menus (family and friends are welcomed to use anytime). There are many themed nights and there are occasional events with live music and other celebrations. The chef, cooks and wait staff there are very involved with the residents and have an excellent relationship with them. The concierge staff is also very caring and engaging with the residents. They are very helpful and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all of the residents. The manager and director of wellness provides excellent communication to family members if needed, and they have been very helpful and caring so I have peace of mind. I highly recommend Hearthstone to any senior/retiree looking for a carefree, fun, and comfortable lifestyle in a nice community/neighbourhood amongst other friendly and nice residents there. I am very fortunate to know many of the staff and residents there, and know that my parents were well taken care of there. There should be more retirement condo communities like this in Toronto, as the aging community is growing and it's hard to find a place that offers the kind of service, community, environment and care like Hearthstone provides. Unfortunately, both my parents are suffering from Alzheimer's and had to eventually move to an assisted or memory care living facility. They do miss living there and the staff and residents still ask about my parents which is really appreciated.

  My parents moved there a month ago, very caring staff, great option for seniors who are still mainly independent, but need more social interactions and options for help. You can request PSW help in 15 minute increments at a reasonable price, which is ideal as seniors age. Full kitchens in each condo allow seniors to cook or prepare some meals as needed. Restaurant on-site is very good, albeit a little pricey for seniors. Great location if resident still enjoys walking and either take the bus or drive. The condo concept means that all their resources don’t simply go into a rental retirement home.
