Most of the staff are good. This office has yelling and shouting culture. Never seen women in a professional workplace swearing and yelling this badly. Work pressure is too much. When staff sends written complain to supervisor manager they are so skilled and cautious in covering up, they don't reply to the email. As if they have not read your message. This behaviour clearly indicates, management is aware of sick in the head staff, and they are covering the crazy one and let other people suffer. That one staff is Emma, abusive, disrespectful, and loud.

We chose ParaMed for end‑of‑life care because of AHS engaged them for some care ours and we thought it would be easier to coordinate if all the care was from the same company. Instead, it made an already painful time harder. What Went Well - Client managers were polite, completed forms at our house, and checked in with each new HCA onsite. - A couple nurses showed compassion. What Went Wrong - Unprofessional staff: - One nurse constantly complained about how ParaMed messes up her pay and the timing of the shirts, then she kept eating our food with an expectation that we should feed her (she stopped bring her lunch) - Night nurses often stayed in another room despite requests to be bedside and monitor the patient so we couldn't sleep so that we could keep an eye on the staff and our family member - Inconsistent care: - Only one nurse met our expectations. - One HCA’s constantly and needlessly checked vital‑sign that caused stress to us and the patient. - Rude office staff: - When requesting staff changes, the girl who was indifferent and dismissive - Scheduling/billing conversations were curt and unhelpful. - Harsh Policy Families are billed unless they give 24‑hours’ notice — even after a death, knowing they were engaged for end-of-life care. Maybe a nominal fee might be insensitive but ok not paying for entire shifts due to an act of God Bottom Line ParaMed staff, especially the office staff, lack empathy and have poor customer service. They don't seem to care because they have guaranteed review from AHS. ParaMed fell short, turning an already difficult time into something far more traumatic. AHS should consider other companies that show empathy, care, and professionalism to provide palliative care to citizens. I would avoid ParaMed as we had better and more responsive service from other home care providers

We have our 85 yrs old Auntie at home, She needs support with her medication administration and once a week with bathing routine. On Wednesday we had a staff scheduled to assist my Auntie with routines before her pick up to program. The caregiver who was scheduled to assist my aunt was reporting on site on time, but will not help my Auntie with anything. Each time my Auntie asked for assistance she will brush her off and dismiss her. My sister called Paramed several times to report that we cannot have the person coming to assist her but my Auntie did not feel safe with the staff alone in the home. This problem has been going on for two months plus with no help. Every Wednesday morning the caregiver keeps coming and we reminder that Auntie does not want her. The office staff will then call and we speak about the same concerns every Wednesday. The office staff will say that a supervisor will follow up but they call until the following the cycle begins again. My sister reached to AHS Care Coordinator last week and reported tge ongoing concerns. She was very casual about it and nothing was done as well. Today the caregiver called again that she was send to assist my Auntie. We talked about it with an office staff repeating the same message as the other staff we spoke to for the past 2 1/2 months. My Sister was informed that the lady will continue to show up because she needs to paid, I couldbelieve that. She was beingpaidfor not working. This taxpayer' s money. Two weeks again the caregiver was so rude to my sister. When my sister picked up the phone she stated, " What nonsense is this and dropped the phone" We feel harassed by the caregiver every Wednesday. This agency is so disfunctional and irresponsible to vulnerable individuals. The Coordinator Paramed have never reached out. I hope the caregiver does work with individuals who are home alone. I didn't believe this is happening. ZM/North West Calgary.
