Queenswood Villa exceeds all expectations. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They genuinely care about the residents and provide them with a beautiful and bright home. They gear the activities to the residents. The layout is functional, easy, and open. My father-in-law's mental health has improved significantly. He is happy and loves his new home.

My mom moved in to Queenswood Villa several years ago. I have been waiting to write a review until some time had passed to give a full review. Here are my main points -I love the small size. It feels like a family and the staff get to know the residents personally. -Lots of activities and the choice is the residents whether they would like to join in or not. Lorraine does a great job of getting those who want to involved. -Head nurse, Kristy is phenomenal. On top of things and communicates very well. I know my Mom is in good hands and this means the world to me. All the nursing staff is lovely. Very capable. -Personal support workers also go above and beyond. Kim is one of them and her kindness, patience and ability to help is so appreciated. All in all our experience has been great. Only down size is the fees are high but I think that is standard for all private care. If your on the fence about Queenswood for a loved one, I would highly recommend.

Where to begin. Approximately 9 months ago we moved our mom into the Villa - she has a diagnosis of progressive dementia. She was assessed at the villa by the nurse and the clinical care coordinator in order to determine if she was appropriate for the level of care provided at Villa. At that time they determined that they would indeed be able to assist in caring for our mom. The Queenswood Villa has some great qualities - bright open spaces, some lovely staff (shout out to Erin at reception, Lorraine who coordinates residents activity, many of the dining hall staff, and some of the nursing staff. But, beware - they are NOT set up for patients who have dementia. They provide almost no programming specifically for these individuals and when disease advances and "difficult behaviours" might become an issue - they are poorly equipped to manage this in a humane way. As a family, we were never approached to discuss these worsening behaviours in our mother or requirement for additional care needs. In fact my sister had been in the Villa a total of 4 times in the 2 weeks preceding the nursing staff putting our mom in an ambulance at 4pm on a Tuesday afternoon and shipping her off to emerg at the Monfort Hospital. If they had made an effort to address this with us we would have taken the necessary steps to move her if that was what was required. If they did discuss anything with my father(also medically fragile and 82 years old) and did not get an appropriate response, they certainly knew how to reach both my sister and myself. They did not reach out - and since sending my mom off in an ambulance and informing the paramedics that they would not accept her back, NOBODY from the administration or nursing staff at the Villa has reached out to our family to see how our mom is doing. If they had they would know that she waited in Emergency for over 20 hours with no medical conditions and now 2 weeks later we have finally been able to find another home for our mom. It's a shame. This is not how a demented person should be treated. Shame on this facility for not doing right by our mom. They sent her out the doors and washed their hands of her. Not even a call.
