Our family had a deeply distressing experience with the care provided to my father in law during his three week stay at the Silverado Creek facility in Calgary. When he arrived, he was still walking short distances and assisting with daily care activities, yet he was immediately classified as a total lift. He was no longer toileted and remained confined to a wheelchair or bed with no opportunities to maintain movement, strength or sense of purpose. His anxiety and aggression increased significantly, and despite our concerns and constant communication, staffing levels were clearly inadequate to meet his needs. We often waited hours for help with basic care and on several occasions, staff ignored requests or were distracted by personal devices. Family members had to step in repeatedly just to relieve his discomfort. Medication management was also poorly handled, with medications withheld until his symptoms escalated to the point that staff could no longer administer them safely. We raised concerns many times and received inconsistent information about staffing, care routines, and the need for private support. Near the end, the facility offered little to poor end of life care and there was great suffering. There has been no communication with family members from site leadership since we communicated our concerns. We are sharing this so other families do not have to endure the same experience. We hope the facility takes meaningful action to improve staffing, communication, and resident care. Please do not be fooled by a fancy website and a newer facility when making a difficult choice for your loved one!

We cannot thank the care team enough for all their hard work, time and love in taking care of our mother/grandmother. The staff was incredibly thoughtful while taking care of her in her final years.

We are happy with our experience at Silverado. My dad has lived there for almost 3 years and we have found the staff warm, friendly, caring, and responsive to family input. The building itself is clean and bright and has a nice atmosphere. My dad is content there and well cared for.
