The residents are disrespected and mistreated, the staff are humiliated all the time, every day. The abuse of power by the nurses is what reigns in this place. Unbalanced, disrespectful and abusive, they are useless. They don't help at all. This place is hell. This place is traumatizing. While peace and harmony reign in other places, this is the most horrifying and horrible place that exists.

I am deeply concerned about the level of care my father has received at Southbridge East Long Term Care in London Ontario since being admitted on May 4, 2026. I understand that staff still need time to get to know my father and his individual needs, and I appreciate that adjustment periods can take time. However, the experience so far has not been what I expected. Hours after arriving, staff placed an oxygen tank in his room even though he only requires puffers, which raised concerns about communication and attention to his actual medical needs. More troubling was an incident on Tuesday, May 5th, when my father fell out of bed. The bed alarm was sounding, yet no staff responded. I personally had to pick him up myself because there was nobody available. I walked down the hallway checking multiple rooms and could not find any staff members to assist. Communication has also been extremely disappointing. On Saturday, May 9th, I called the nursing station 13 times without receiving an answer from any nurse. Then on Sunday, May 10th, I called eight more times before finally reaching someone at reception. I was told a nurse would return my call, but I did not receive a callback until four hours later. During one conversation on May 10th, I mentioned that I understood they may be short-staffed and that I realize staffing shortages are difficult for everyone involved. I also said that while it is not the staff’s fault, it is also not the families’ fault when care and communication are affected. I was then told by someone at the nurse’s station that they were not short-staffed and that there were five staff members working in that area at the time. Families place trust in long-term care homes to provide attentive, safe, and compassionate care for their loved ones. At this point, I am very concerned about the lack of responsiveness, supervision, and communication surrounding my father’s care.
