My Mom has been in Sunset for many years. She has advanced dementia. She should, quite honestly, not still be alive. However, she gets such excellent care at Sunset that she is still going strong. The staff are caring and efficient. My Dad visited my Mom several days a week consistently through the years (before his death) and the staff were also excellent with him and understood his loneliness. They were like a family to him. Long term care is challenging for families and residents but the staff at Sunset do everything they can to make it better. Is every human working there amazing - no. That would be impossible. But most staff are amazing and the facility is exceptional!

Other than some care aides the place is okay. They need to improve with some staff attitudes to family and laziness. It was daunting that resident belongings disappear and the attitude is "I find that hard to believe." There are alot of positives but a few bad apple employees make it a very disrespectful care facility. I write this as a need for vast improvement in the care aide category. Many employees are excellent bit those 2nd floor bad apples made it so negative. The director blames family for things going missing and that attitude encouraged me to give this review.

My father passed away and when we returned to grab his belongings from his room, we found dried vomit and blood on the floor. You'd think they would have cleaned that up out of respect for him and his family. They also rushed us to get his belongings out and often complained about his size and being difficult to move and care for. Some staff were very friendly and helpful while others were not.
