I spent some time at Bridlewood located on Bridle Path Drive in south Ottawa when I needed respite care. Overall I’d give between 4 and 5 stars. The staff are excellent: caring, courteous and well trained. There were some growing pains but that was only due to early days and wonderful new ownership/management. Like all privately owned retirement residences, they don’t have quite enough staff (PSWs and nurses) at night. This hopefully has changed. The environment is pleasant. They are working at improvements as the building is older. They’re doing quite well at that. I did not socialize due to my circumstances and I’m not of the usual age (younger), but the residents seem well adjusted and content. Food / dining: They tried hard to accommodate my very challenging food/ dietary requirements at the time. I took meals in my room due to my compromised immune system. We worked together and they tried very hard but it wasn’t entirely successful for my needs. They were working on improving even further in that area. The food I did have cooked form me was average at best. This is not unusual for retirement homes in general. The food suppliers are not great and the costs are high for the quality. Very little is cooked from scratch / true healthy home cooking. End of day, I would recommend Bridlewood because they really do care about their residents and want people to feel “home”. Just be sure to interview residences carefully to ensure there is a fit for you, or your loved one. Senior care is critically important and you need the right fit — just like choosing a home / condo / apartment.

My husband and I travelled from the UK to visit a relative for 5 days who lives at ‘Chartwell Bridlewood’. We stayed on the premises in the guest suite and were made to feel extremely welcome - we arrived late but still refreshments were there waiting for us. Staying for a few days we knew we would get a true impression of Bridlewood. The impression we got is that our relative has her home in a wonderful, kind and caring place. The staff are incredible and so attentive. The meals are fabulous. There is a massive range of activities for the residents to take part in. We have peace of mind that our relative is being well looked after. Thank you to the staff and residents for making our trip so enjoyable. ❤️

My dad recently moved into Bridlewood. The whole experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The folks who work there strive hard to make it feel like a big family. From the moment I first called the staff was warm and professional and you can tell they obviously care. Every single staff member I have met has been terrific! I have to give a special shout out to Luisa, Nathalie and Tanya - what a dedicated, compassionate group - thank you!!! My dad has been there about a month now and he loves it and I feel like he’s safe and well cared for when I’m not around. I would highly recommend this residence to anyone looking for a safe and comfortable place for an elderly parent.
