Location is not too crowded, and most of the days have open spot for parking. Easily accessible area via major roads.

THE SHADE UNDER THE BANYAN TREE—That’s how Golden Manor seem to me. I was so fortunate to have experienced this special elder care center for a few days last April 2024 where I could see smiling staff working around the clock, where I was welcomed and helped by Tamson and Brandon in the administration who manage the center with courtesy, patience, efficiency and professionalism. I was allowed to stay in the Independent Living wing. The unit, like a one-bedroom condo, was new and so clean. Large windows allowed natural light in all day. Surprisingly, the whole floor was so quiet most of the time, and absolutely quiet at night—a rarity indeed for I had known quite a few nursing homes and rehab centers in San Francisco Bay Area under the Kaiser Permanente and Medicare coverage where my 90 years old mother used to stay. None can be compared to Golden Manor. The reception and dining area is an open space, with cheerful lighting and comforting Buddha statues. The room air was cool and fresh, not a single unpleasant odor was detected. The sitting is assigned so that the meals are served according to specific diet of the residents. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner were served with efficiency and an ambience music filled the room. It was my favorite place to sit with my tea and tablet. I think most of the residents in the Independent Living wing cook their own meals. For those who have the meals served, they can consume with confidence since the menu was updated regularly and approved by appropriate government agency. How could the center create such peaceful and comfortable feeling that I could sense day after day? I believe the mission of the center is based on the compassion and loving kindness, qualities infused right in the beginning by its founder, Venerable Thích Thiện Tâm and curent spiritual leader venerable Thích Pháp Hoà who showed us what Compassion in Action means. An elderly Vietnamese resident told me that she has 3 sons and 1 daughter but she preferred to stay at Golden Manor because she could maintain her independence, had safety, and enjoyed the kind of support that her children could not truly provide. “I was most fortunate to be here.” She said. I hope Golden Manor continue to excel for many, many years to come and provide the help to those who needed it most—our frail and weak elderly. Just like under the shade of a banyan tree in a hot summer day, may the old and weak find peace and preserve their dignity in this special place.
